If you’re a fan of the Blue Collar Comedy Troupe, you’ll no doubt want to know everything there is to know about Larry The Cable Guy. As a Grammy nominee, multiplatinum recording artist and Billboard award winner, Larry is one of the country’s top comedians. Selling out arenas and theaters all over the USA, Larry isn’t just a big name star, he’s also a philanthropist, having created a non-profit organization named after his signature catchphrase The Git-R-Done Foundation which has donated over $7,000,000 to charity.
Only In America
Larry may be best known for his TV show “Only In America With Larry The Cable Guy”. Shown in the History channel, it ran from 2011 for three seasons and was an amazing success in the ratings. In every episode, Larry went to different sites across the nation telling true stories from history while also trying his hand at new hobbies, jobs and lifestyles which celebrate American traditions and experiences.
Larry’s Foray Into Disney
Children will no doubt know Larry best in his Disney guise. The Cable Guy himself voiced the role of lovable Mater the tow truck in Disney Pixar’s movie Cars – an animated movie which won a Golden Globe. He also followed it up by reprising his role in the sequel, Cars 2 which was released in 2011. Both of these iconic movies opened at top position at the box office and put together, they have grossed over one billion dollars around the world. Thanks to Mater, Larry is also the only member of the Blue Collar Comedy Troupe who has a Lego character representing him that can be used in custom projects of your choice!
Larry And The Blue Collar Comedy Tour
As you probably already know, Larry is an integral part of the Blue Collar Comedy Tour – a venture which grossed over $15,000,000. Its cast of outstanding comedians included Bill Engvall and Jeff Foxworthy, and after the tour, its inevitable success led to the a movie – rather predictably called “Blue Collar Comedy Tour, The Movie”. This premiered in November 2003 on the Comedy Central channel and, at that time, it achieved the honor of being the channel’s highest rated movie in its history. The DVD of the movie has, to date, sold over 4 million copies while its sequel, named “Blue Collar Comedy Tour Rides Again” currently has sold over 3 million copies. In 2004, Larry starred along with the other Blue Collar guys in the Blue Collar TV comedy sketch series made for The WB network. With 5.4 million viewers, it turned out to be the 2nd most watched TV show during that time. Not content to let the Blue Collar venture lie, the boys got together one more time in 2005 for Blue Collar Comedy Tour, One For The Road. This was filmed at Washington DC’s Warner Theater. This final outing of the Blue Collar gang was premiered on June 4th 2005 on Comedy Central and again it received impressive ratings, with its soundtrack being nominated the following year for a Grammy award.
Them Idiots Whirled Tour
During the early months of 2012, Larry appeared on CMT in Them Idiots Whirled Tour along with his friends and co-comedians from the Blue Collar Comedy Tour, Bill Engvall and Jeff Foxworthy. The show was then promptly released on both CD and DVD by Warner Bros/Jack Records and it went straight to number 1 of the Billboard Comedy Charts.
